Welcome to Lift!

Why am I here?

Good question.
I didn’t set out to become an aromatic therapist.
I just wanted to stop itching.

What started with a stubborn case of eczema turned into obsessive label reading, deep dives into natural remedies, and a growing curiosity about what we put on—and into—our bodies. As a former pastry chef, mixing and formulating things was in my blood, so when a good friend from Oregon sent me a handmade bar of soap that smelled DIVINE and made me happy every time I was in its presence, I decided to figure how to make my own. Free of synthetics, lab-made fragrances, colors and preservatives. Maybe that would help?

It didn’t, but it was an experiment that got me thinking.

That early curiosity led to FOLK Botanicals, a line of all natural, essential oil–infused skincare and bath products. I loved (and still do) creating products that could bring joy and comfort to others, but what became clear was how much I was being affected the smell-factor.

That first whiff when I walked into my studio?
Immediate shift.
Mood. Energy. Focus. Perspective…even an overwhelming feeling of happiness I dare say?

That’s when I realized scent wasn’t just a background note, it was doing…something? It was the thing! It’s important to understand that at this time, I had two very small children. So, the juxtaposition of the chaos of kids, and the calm of my studio during those work sessions were drastic to begin with. But, I could so feel that shift. That’s when I started studying the science and mechanisms of olfaction and all aromatics, essential oils were just part of it.

That term: aromatherapist. Did you roll your eyes? What happened? Why am I bossy? So many questions.

At the time I became interested in studying aromatics and essential oils specifically, the MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) companies–that I shall not name–were, and still are, rabidly shilling these delicate plant oils like they were an infinite commodity. We have more endangered aromatic plant species now than ever before. These companies and their salespeople were also making absurd promises (or wild inferences at best) based on anecdotal evidence about such things as curing skin cancer and “hey, put a few drops of lemon oil in your morning water for a great wake up beverage” (RIP your esophagus).

Having a naturally critical and skeptical mind, I saw through the “popification” of these beautiful materials, not to mention the dangerous advice that was being floated around by people who had no real training and who were simply repeating recommendations without doing their own research. See, I sound mean, right? Sorry, not sorry.

The truth is that there is plenty of research to support the use of essential oils for many topical ailments, and I’m certainly not above responding to a positive, anecdotical result because we all have different physiologies and some things work for some people, but not for others etc. BUT, the MLM “era” has made a kind of joke out of a very powerful modality. You’ve seen the mocking memes on Instagram, surely? Or, maybe I’m just overly sensitive and spicy.

Topical applications can be useful for things like skin issues or pain relief, but if you want to change how you feel—mentally, emotionally, energetically—your nose is the most direct route.

Inhalation is fast, targeted, and powerful. When you breathe in the right aromatic molecules, you’re not just smelling something pleasant, you’re sending a signal straight to the parts of your brain that handle memory, emotion, stress response, and sensory input. That’s why, for me, inhalation is the preferred method.

After years of working with products, I started craving something more focused. More personal. I didn’t want to just make soap—I wanted to help people work with scent in a way that created actual transformation.

Lift Aromatics grew out of that intention.
It’s a process—personalized, grounded, and results-oriented.
Because the effort you put into your own wellness practice should do something.

I offer two core approaches:

For people who’ve lost their sense of smell from COVID, aging, or neurological issues, we use repetition, memory, and tailored scents to retrain the olfactory system and support the brain’s

For anyone dealing with emotional overload, burnout, anxiety, or creative blocks—we work together using custom blends, inhalation practices, and guided conversation to clear the static and reconnect to clarity and presence.

It’s not about handing you a bottle of lavender and saying, “good luck.”
It’s about using scent, strategically and intentionally, to create real change.

Also? It’s fun.

If you’re bored or simply burned out by the same old wellness modalities, or if you’re just curious about what scent can actually do—you’re in the right place.

This work is subtle.
It’s not a magic fix. But it is a catalyst.
